Inter Club League 2015 – Tibenham
Competition Report ESGC took Saturday with flying colours as each of it’s pilots won their class. The luck was on our side as George Green’s logger failed, but Rob Lockett was flying the task, too. He was the fastest of the pundits and got the 3 points for ESGC. Vernon Bettle managed to top the Intermediate […]

First 2014 Cross Country Gliding Day
A challenging initial cross country gliding day with Den Heslop and Rob Lockett declaring a 170k triangle. Den managed to get home after a low grovel near Stowmarket but Rob landed out close to home. A good start on the National Ladder 🙂 Many other rewarding flights from Wormingford today with Graham Winch climbing to […]

The day got even better with four new members joining the club after experiencing what soaring is all about!
A record flight, by Rob Lockett.
Tibenham to Truro in an old Olympia 2b by Rob Lockett. Flicking through the ancient pages of my Olympia 2b’s glider logbook it appears that in the 1950’s and 1960’s pilots were duty bound to crash following any kind of winch launch failure or other eventuality, no matter how minor. Several times this practice led […]
Third Time Lucky…
Andy Sanderson reports on his memorable glider flight around the London TMA Ever since I did my first 500km flight in my old Vega 890, I have been looking for new and interesting challenges. One of the things that had never been achieved from Essex & Suffolk GC, which is situated at Wormingford, near the […]
